Spring Tire Alignment After A Harsh Winter

Does Your Car Need An Alignment After Winter?

An alignment is the adjustment of your vehicle's suspension to facilitate better handling, even tire wear, and performance. An alignment is recommended once or twice a year, depending on the vehicle and how much wear and tear is put on it by the driver, and the number of rough road conditions the car comes into contact with.

A single deep pothole could shock your car out of alignment, and after a long bumpy winter in Chicago, there is every chance you will find your vehicle is pulling quite strongly to one side of the road come spring.

Winter road conditions, from potholes to huge mounds of snow and ice, can easily knock your car off balance. Below are some signs your vehicle might be ready for an alignment:

  • • Uneven Wear Across Tires - If you notice one side of your tires is wearing faster than the other, on any number of tires, this can mean your car needs an alignment.
  • • Pulsing/Shaking Felt in the Steering Wheel or Through the Seat
  • • Steering Wheel Off Center - If you notice your steering wheel is tilting to one side when driving, this could mean you need an alignment.
  • • Pulling - If your car pulls in one direction, left or right, without steering manipulation, then your vehicle probably needs an alignment.
