CV boots are an important part of your wheel drive system. Without them, friction will quickly wear out the CV joints in your vehicle.
Fortunately, VIP Tire makes CV boot replacement easy! We perform a thorough inspection of your vehicle’s CV boots to determine if a replacement is needed. If it is, we replace the boots quickly and efficiently, using only high-quality auto parts.

CV joints connect the front wheels and rear wheels to a vehicle’s transmission, which allows them to rotate at a constant velocity. Each axle is equipped with two CV joints, an inner and outer. The transmission is connected to the axle via the inner joints, while the wheels are connected to the axle via the outer joint.
The CV joints are designed to move in conjunction with the suspension system, supporting the wheels over various types of terrain and keeping them moving in tandem. A CV boot is what surrounds the CV joint and protects it from debris and other hazards. They are usually made out of tough rubber or plastic that is both flexible and strong enough to move and bend with the constant activity of the CV joints.
This activity is only possible with proper lubrication. CV axle boots keep the joints lubricated with lithium moly grease, helping them easily adjust to the motion of the wheels. While CV boots degrade over time, you can help extend the life of them with regular inspections.
CV joints rely on CV boots to retain proper lubrication, so any tears, cracks, or splits in the material of the boot will cause lubrication loss. If this occurs, metal on metal contact results, which will quickly wear down the CV joints. Damaged CV boots need to be replaced as soon as possible in order to prevent the need for CV joint replacement.
CV boots also keep the lubrication area around the joints clean, preventing debris, like rocks and sand, from damaging them.
Heat and friction eventually degrade CV boots. A visual inspection from our qualified team of mechanics will determine if you have bad CV boots that need to be replaced. Boot replacement from VIP Tire provides the care and protection joints need to stay properly lubricated and last as long as possible. Making sure your car or truck’s CV boots are in good shape will also help prevent costly repairs down the road, and ensure the proper transfer of motion from the transmission to the vehicle’s wheels.
Without regular CV boot inspections, and maintenance checks of the accompanying components, you could find yourself paying for larger repairs and part replacements in the future. Visit one of our three locations to have your axles, CV joints, boots, and other system components inspected by automotive professionals you can trust. Contact VIP Tire and Wilrae today!
